PCI At Work
PCI and ACIC Play Key Role in Fighting Accident Response Fees
PCI and its affiliate the Association of California Insurance Companies (ACIC) are playing a lead role in standing up for consumers in California and across the country by opposing proposals that would allow local governments to impose fees when police or fire department personnel respond to a traffic accident. Imposing these fees creates a hidden tax - known as the Crash Tax.
ACIC has been on the forefront of this issue in California which has become a hot spot of activity. The debate over crash taxes continues in Sacramento California. The issue is also being discussed in Tempe Arizona. Around the country other major cities that have recently rejected accident response fee proposals are Denver and Tulsa, where the proposals generated a significant amount of public opposition.
