Property Casualty Insurers Association of America

Member Benefits

Member-driven benefits
PCI members are as diverse as the reasons they value their membership. From publicly held national companies to single-state and specialty writers, they look to us to:
  • Shape public policy
  • Manage issues
  • Provide a forum for discussion and debate
  • Identify trends
  • Keep them informed on virtually every topic that impacts
         the property casualty industry
  • Offer business- and contact-building events

  • Our goal: to foster a competitive insurance marketplace to benefit both insurers and consumers.

We're effective at delivering on that goal because there is strength in our numbers - no single company can do it alone. When we speak in Washington or in the states, legislators and regulators value our positions and our power. And members value the efficiency our numbers offer.

    Your powerful advocate
The advocacy skills of the PCI staff and local lobbyists are unmatched.
    They include:
  • Former state legislators and commissioners
  • Retained lobbyists in every state

  • PCI expert staff covers the nation from:
  • Offices in Chicago and Washington, D.C.
  • Regional offices in Albany, Austin, Boston, Columbia (SC), Denver,
Sacramento, Olympia (WA), Tallahassee and Trenton

  • PCI has built a reputation as the industry's most effective advocacy organization. In the states, PCI staff of seasoned professionals works with local lobbyists. The result: unequalled state-by-state know-how.

On Capitol Hill, members of Congress respect the strength of our numbers, the diversity of our membership and the expert information we add to their debates.

Our 360° approach to advocacy means we view the courts, the third arm of government, as an important focus. We fight unfair regulation and legislation as a named party or by filing amicus briefs. We also keep members' counsel informed of new laws and regulations.

    The largest PAC
PCI PAC is the largest trade association PAC representing the property casualty industry. This pool of funds from industry employees helps elect state and federal lawmakers who share industry-supporting views.

We also harness grassroots power with our own computerized network called EMPOWER. When constituents are matched with government and industry officials, we help form public policy.

    Knowledge source
PCI members don't drown in data. The information they receive is information they can use - it's specifically targeted at what each tells us matters most to them.

PCI produces more than 80 publications to keep members on top of events, trends and changing regulations.

    Legislative Database
Every year PCI tracks thousands of bills and regulations - not just the what, but the why and what it means to our members. We analyze and interpret the effects of bills and regulations on our industry, saving members time and the cost of noncompliance.

    Face-to-face information sharing
At eight annual seminars members hear the experts offer perspective and clarify issues. In PCI committee meetings members share information and - in some of those committees - help shape the PCI position on issues.

    Networking
There's no substitute for peer-to-peer networking. PCI members share information with colleagues and establish new business associates in settings designed to nurture new and old relationships - whether that's sharing the work of a committee or talking over new learning at a seminar. With at least one member in all 50 states, the potential for association and partnership can't be delivered by any other property casualty trade organization.
